Course

The New York City Pro Swim course consists of four out-and-back loops along the west side of Governors Island. Participants enter the water at Carder Road and make their way to the start barge situated off the north face of the island. The route begins with a slight turn along North Island past Castle Williams, positioning swimmers for the looped course. Buoys and escort boats will provide direction along the seawall. Swimmers continue south on the Statue of Liberty (west) side of the island, parallel to Craig Road, before returning to complete a loop, keeping buoys to their left at all times. Observation boats will follow and patrol alongside the circuit course. After completing four loops, competitors will return to the start zone to record an official time.
A feed station will be located on a floating dock at the northern turnaround, close to Castle Williams, at the intersection of Clayton and Craig Roads. Swimmers may exit the field for feedings at this location at any time without penalty but are required to remain between the inner buoys and the seawall.
